Service Description

Suicide-risk encounters are among the most clinically demanding situations behavioral health professionals face. Although screening instruments and organizational protocols provide important structure, effective suicide-risk management requires clinicians to move beyond completing a form or assigning a risk category. Clinicians must recognize meaningful changes in presentation, conduct a comprehensive assessment, integrate multiple sources of clinical information, formulate the client's current risk picture, select an appropriate response, document their clinical reasoning, and continue reassessing risk over time. Beyond the Risk Assessment introduces the RAFRDC framework: Recognize, Assess, Formulate, Respond, Document, and Continue. The framework provides clinicians with a systematic approach for organizing clinical decision-making while maintaining a collaborative and person-centered therapeutic relationship. Participants will examine contemporary research on suicide-risk assessment, the limitations of prediction-based approaches, screening versus comprehensive assessment, risk and protective factors, cultural and contextual considerations, collaborative safety planning, clinical documentation, consultation, continuity of care, and clinician reactions to suicide disclosure. Through research findings, clinical scenarios, and structured case formulation exercises, clinicians will practice answering three essential questions: What do I know? What do I still need to know? What does the total clinical picture indicate I should do next? 🎓 What I Offer: In this live, interactive course, you’ll receive: ✅ A step-by-step framework for assessing suicide risk in remote sessions ✅ Fillable safety plan templates and emergency response scripts ✅ Real-world case scenarios and clinical documentation tips ✅ A 1.5 Hour CEU certificate accepted by the Nevada Board of Examiners 💡 Why Book This Training?
